BEAUTY TIP - How Long Can I Keep My MakeUp

Hi Girlies, I'm back with my second Beauty Tip post. First off, I have a questions for all of you! Do you know that your makeup all have different shelf life? Or do you only dispose it when a) you got tired of the product; b) annual housekeeping; c) Completely used up the product?

If your answer is any of the above, it's hard for me to break it to you but beauty products do have a shelf life. And you should probably start disposing those eye shadows that's been lying in your closet since 3 or 4 years back! Yes,  today I'm here to share with you all the shelf life of various beauty product that I've stumbled across online. (Source: http://beauty.about.com)

Concealers
1. Concealers: Up to 12 months
Foundations
2. Foundation: Varies depending on the types of foundation. For powder - Up to 2 years; As for your liquid foundation - Water-based foundation will last up to 12 months whereas Oil-based will last up to 18 months.
Extra tip: If your water-based foundation dries out before it's expiration date, simply add a few drops of alcohol-free toner and shake to mix it in.

Cream & Gel Cleanser
3. Cream & Gel Cleanser: Up to 1 year (This shouldn't be of big problem since we all use our cleanser on a daily basis..)
Pencil Eyeliner & Mascara
4. Pencil Eyeliner: Up to 3 years (Note: you should Sharpen your Eyeliner every once in a while!)

5. Mascara: Mascara expires the fastest: You should throw out 4 months after purchase.
Extra tip: If you don't want your mascara to expire faster than its fresh date, don't pump the wand in and out -- you're only exposing the product to drying air.

Eye Shadows
6. Eye Shadows: Up to 3 years
Extra tip: A dark eyeshadow can double up as eyeliner, in fact, most days I go by wearing my dark-blue Eye shadow (39) from my Sephora 66 magnetic palette as Eyeliner. All you need is a Eyeliner Brush. (Get the brush a little damp and dab in dark Eye Shadow)

Makeup Brushes & Sponges
7. Makeup Brushes: You should wash every 2-3 months but I do spot cleaning for my Eyeliner and Shadow brushes everytime I uses them. Need tips on how to wash your makeup brushes? Here's my blog post on how I clean my makeup brushes.

8. Makeup Sponges: Wash weekly and discard monthly

Lip Liner & Lipstick
9. Lip Liner: Up to 3 years

10. Lipstick: There's no definite answer, 2-4 years perhaps? But we can all agree on is that if it smells rancid, it's definitely spoiled so, to the bin it goes.
Extra tip: If you store lipstick in the refrigerator, it will last longer.

Nail Polishes
11. Nail Polish: Up to 12 months, depending on the quality
Extra Tip: If your Nail Polishes gets clumpy and difficult to apply on, add 1-2 drips of your nail polish remover into your nail polish and shake the bottle. Wella~ Clumpy no more!
